TAKAPAU
ITEMS OF INTEREST. From Our Own Correspondent. At a meeting of the general committee of the Takapau Golf Club, held on Saturday afternoon, it was decided to hold the club's annual tournament on Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26. The resignation of Mr H. 11. Edwards, as club captain, owing to his leaving the district. was received' with much regret and Mr C. J. Smith was elected as captain. Vacancies on the committee were filled by the appointment of Major McDonnell and Mr G. R. Davies. It was decided to get out a programme for Wednesday players and to place competitions played on Wednesdays on a definite footing. Football Practice, A football practice match between Dannevirke Old Boys and Takapau was played at Takapau on Saturday. Conditions were on the warm side for Rugby football and the ground was hard. The game was played in four spells, of 20 minutes each, and was more in the form of a club practice match than an inter-club game. One of the indications of the match. however. was that Takapau this season should he able to field a particularly good fifteen.
