OBITUARY

MRS. EDITH EMMA SWAN We regret to record the death ot Mrs Edith Emma Swan on Sunday at her residence, 507 Wellwood street, Hastings after a few days’ illness. The news of her sudden illness and leach came as a great shock to her many friends. The deceased lady fume to Hastings about 18 years ago and during her residence there made many friends and endeared herself to everyone with whom she came in contact. Of a kindly unassuming, lovable and sympathetic nature, she was always ready to help in any effort for the general good of the community. Her every, day life she gave for others outside her own personal circle. Few knew the influence that radiated from her presence to those who were privileged to be called her friends. Since an unfortunate accident which occurred about two years ago Mrs Swan had been obliged to live a more retired life, but her interest in the organisations to which she belonged never abated She had a smiling sympathy for everyone She leaves a sor. rowing husband, one son, Mr Jock Swan, of the Bank of N.S.W., Welling, ton, and two daughters. Mrs Steven Rudcliffe, of London, and Miss Joan Swan, to whom the sympathy of a very wide circle of friends is extended.

The funeral took place this morning,
