ELLERSLIE TRACK NOTES EASTER CANDIDATES IN ACTION. DEPUTY RULER’B GOOD EFFORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 11. Beautiful weather ‘ prevailed for training work at Ellerslie. The course proper, with the poles 45ft. out from the rails, and No. 3 grass track were used for fast work. The going was exveilent, but there was no particularly fast gallop. * • • On the course proper Mutt' was first out, being sent six furlongs. She run the first two in 27secs. and the full distance in 1.20 3-5. This was a useful gallop, as she carried nearly 9.0. * • • Ruling King went half a mile in 54 3-5. He carried a good w’eight, going comfortably throughout. Wee Pat and Master Brierly were allotted a mile, Kilmuir assisting them over the last six. They ran the first half in 54 and the full distance in 1.47 1-5. The first named pair were together at the finish, with Kilmuir several lengths back. The final six furlongs, were run in 1.20 3-5. • • • Silver Scorn, ridden by D. O’Connor, was sent a mile from the old post. She ran the first furlong in 14 2-5, two- in 26 2-5, three in 40, four in 53 1-5, and five in 1.5 2-5, finishing in 1.46. .She did her work in good style and was not doing her best at any part. • • * The best effort of the morning over six furlongs was registered by Deputy Ruler and Manawhenua in 1.18 3-5. There was nothing between them at the finish, but Deputy Ruler, who had the inside running, was going better at the end. • * • Psychologist, after beginning smartly and running the first four in 50 2-5, completed a mile in 1.46 1-5. Owing to the fast pace he was steadying up at the finish. *. * * The hurdler Prince of Orange worked alone over a round in 2.13 4-5, the last seven taking 1.36 4-5. He finished on well. • • • Darma, Wee Musk and Notamint were in that order after running five in 1.6. • • • King Mestor and Supreme Ruler were not doing their best to complete half a mile in 54 2-5. • • • The southern two-year-old Catalogue was given an easy six furlongs in 1.28 2-5. * * * Chief Cook was going easily beside Mahkill with Tahao Moa beaten off at the finish of six in 1.19 2-5. They went fast over the early part, running the first three in 37 3-5. • • • A Champagne Stakes candidate, Princess Doreen, had Inflation as a companion over five and beat him by over six lengths. She ran the first two in 25 3-5 and completed in 1.4 2-5. Princess Doreen did her work impressively, but Inflation disappointed. • • • An Easter Handicap candidate, Sunny Sky, was sent six furlongs with Merry- Damon, being timed to run the first three in 40 and the full distance in 1.21 2-5. Sunny Sky was going well within herself at the finish. Aiguille experienced a rough trip on the steamer from Gisborne and got down during the trip, injuring his hock, which was much enlarged. His start in the Easter Handicap depends on the progress he makes during the next two days. Lordly Knight looks in first-class condition and is expected to run a great race in the Easter, but so far no rider has been engaged for him. ..* • • Midian was scratched for all engagements at 9. a.m. to-day.
