HASTINGS WOMEN’S LEAGUE

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Hastings Women’s League was held in the Trades Hall yesterday afternoon, but, owing to the lengthy agenda paper, it was impossible to finish it, and it has been decided to carry on to-morrow afternoon in the Trades Hall, as the meeting which was to have taken place has been postponed, enabling the League to resume at 2.30 p.m. The motion to close the shop was not seconded, and the motion accordingly lapsed. The women and girls who are being assisted now with sewing are not able to take domestic work. As a number of very deserving cases are still on hand, it would not be advisable to close down, these women being entirely dependent on themselves for their own and their children’s keep. It was decided to invite Dame Sybil Thorndyke to a reception in the Trades Hall in the event of her coming to this district. It was decided that the closing date for entries of music for the League songs be'24th November. Entries, with name and address, are to be sent to Mrs S. E. Jones.,
