FAREWELL TO MISS DUFF

KENNEL ASSOCIATION FUNCTION On Thursday evening Miss Flora Duff, who has been appointed to a position at the head office of the New Zealand Kennel Association, Wellington, was tendered a farewell evening and presentation by the executive of the Hawke’s Bay Kennel Association, of which society she has been honorary secretary. The very enjoyable gathering was held at the residence of Mrs A. E. Mills, Whitehead road, and the first procedure was for aM to be photographed. In the living-room, which looked attractive with bowls of Iceland poppies matching the orange and gold furnishings, dancing, games and music made the evening a very pleasant one for everybody. Wireless music also was greatly enjoyed. A delicious supper provided by the ladies’ committee had been set in the dining-room, pretty Iceland poppies decorating the table. Before supper Mr Menzies, president of the club, on behalf of the executive, presented Miss Duff with a handsome silver entree dish suitably engraved. Mr Menzies said that as Miss Duff was leaving for a better position she deserved every congratulation, but nevertheless it was a great loss tor the executive here, for during the past four years in which Miss Duff had carried on the duties of honorary secretary she had proved to be one of the best possible workers. Mr Menzies concluded by wishing Miss Duff the best of good luck and said that all hoped to see her here again on some future occasion. “For She’s a Jolly Good 1 Fellow” was then sung by all present. Mr Hilliker, on behalf of Miss Duff, responded, thanking the committee for their congratulations and saying how sorry Miss Duff was to leave all of them, with whom she had been so pleasantly associated in Kennel Club work, and she hoped to return and meet old friends again. Mr Hilliker also conveyed Miss Duff’s gratitude to the executive for the very handsome and beautiful present which she would always value greatly. Members of the executive present were:' Miss Flora Duff, Mr Menzies (president), Mr and Mrs A. E. Mills, Mr and Mrs T. V. Morrin, Mrs McGaffin, Mr Munro, Messrs Hilliker, Berry, Briggs, Davies, Gleeson, Cleary. Others present were Mr and Mrs Dunlop, Mrs Munro, Mrs Hilliker, and Mrs Berry. Apologies were received from Mr McNiyen, Dr. Romaine Wright, and Dr. Gerald Faulkner.
