Countermarch led into the straight from Night Recital, Juniper, Riri, Starshooter and Rational 11. Recital finished well and won by half a length from Juniper, with Rati mal II a further three lengths away. Blackmint was fourth. Time, 1.40. Topthorn and Arden’s Beauty were together in charge when the course proper was reached, with Rebel Song, Grampian, Fleeting Glance and Pacify also prominent. Fleeting Glance camo fast to beat Topthorn by a neck, with Arden’s Beauty two lengths away. Grampian was fourth. Time, 1.1. GREAT EASTER HANDICAP. 4 Autopay (O’Connor) 1 1 Cricket Bat (A. E. Autopay was soon in charge, with Cricket Bat and Grecian Prince next. Approaching the homo turn the leaders were: Autopay, Grecian Prince, Cricket Bat and The Quorn. After the field had reached the course proper Autopay still had command with Grecian Prince, Cricket Bat, Dunraven and Gay Crest following. Cricket Bat failed to reach Autopay by half a length, with Gay Crest, three lengths away, third. Dunraven was fourth. Time, 1.24 4-5.

When the course proper was reached those in the lead included Crash, Lochlaggan, Red Royal, Weatherly, Royal Amphora and Ringing Cheer. In the run homo Lochlaggan won by two lengths from Crash, with Weatherly three lengths away. Craigavon was fourth. Time, 1.12 4-5. SOCKBURN HANDICAP. 2 Shatter (Messervy) 1 7 Minerval (Stone) ... 2 3 Martian Chief (A. Eastwood) ... 3 Also ran: 1 Red Sea, 4 Don Jose, 5 Night Effort, 6 Earthquake. After a furlong had been covered Minerval led from Don Jose, Night Effort, Martian Chief, Shatter and Red Sea. Minerval piloted the field round the far turn and across the top, and led into the straight from Shatter, Red Sea and Don Jose. In a good finish Shatter got up to beat Minerval by a neck. Martian Chief, half a length away was third and Red Sea finished fourth. Time, 1.53 1-5. COURTENAY HANDICAP. 5 Rational II (Humphries) .. ... 1 1 Gold Pit (A. E. Ellis) 2 3 Great Charter (Kirwan) 3 Also ran: 4 Taku Tama, 2 Ball Dress, 6 Wise Choice, 8 Arrowmir, 7 Arrowmaid. Taku Tama led into the straight followed by Great Charter, Ball Dress and Gold Pit. At the distance Rational II came fast and won by a head from Gold Pit. Great Charter, a length and a half away, was third, and Taku Tama was fourth. Time, 1.26.
