FEILDING'S FIRST DAY

ACOBA THE SIX. ASTON AN OUTSIDER. Feilding, March 26. Beautiful weather prevailed for the first day’s racing. There was a largo attendance, and the track was fast and in splendid order. The totalisator handled £1174. Late results:— Taonui Hack. —1 Fairway (Anderson) 1,2 Seneschal (Barry) 2, 9 Baskier (Robinson) 3. Also ran: 8 Air Laddie, 4 In Vain, 5 Mirror, 3 lago, 7 Chief Clerk, 6 Pass On. Won by three lengths, third back a head. Time, 1.28. Fairway was first away from lago, Baskier, In Vain and Seneschal, with Air Laddie last Entering the straight Fairway led from Seneschal, Baskier and lago. Fairway won easily, never being challenged. Air Laddie was fourth. Mangaono Handicap.—4 Acora (J. M. Pine) I, 1 Souchong (Atkins) 2, 3 Consent 3. Also ran: 2 Hampden. Hampden was left at the post. Souchong went away to get a long lead into the straight, where Achora gradually overhauled him and won comfortably by two lengths, with Consent five lengths further back. Time, 1.13. Onepuhi Hack.—4 Attentive (Duncan) 1, 7 Tentcall (W. E. Pine) 2, 1 Davidstock (Barry) 3. Also ran : 2 Mauawatu, 6 Auctioneer, 3 Saltpot, 5 Decree Nisi, 8 Gueress. Won by a neck, third back half a length. Time, 1.56 1-5. Manawatu, Davidstock, Saltpot, Auctioneer and Tentcall were away in that order. Tentcall went up to lead into the straight from Auctioneer Davidstock and Decree Nisi. Auctioneer and then Attentive challenged Tentcall. Then Attentive speeded up to win by a short neck. Halcombs Handicap.—6 Aston (Anderson) 1,2 Korokio (Jenkins) 2, 1 Chief Cook (J. M. Pine) 3. Also ran: 3 Green Linnet, 5 Nightmare, 4 Juggle, 7 Patearoa. Won by a neck, third back a length and a half. Time. 1.27 3-5. Aston got away quickly and leu from Patearoa and Green Linnet. As ton headed for home a couple of lengths ahead of Patearoa, Green Linnett, Nightmare and Korokio. Aston hung on well. Though Korokio challenged gamely ho failed by a neck. SECOND DAY. Feilding, March 28. The second day of the Feilding meeting was held in sunny, breezy weather and before a large attendance. There was good racing. The totalisator handled £13,180 10s against £18,954 for the second day last year and for the meeting £24,876 10s, against £35,866 last year. Results: — Kimbolton Hurdles. —2 Arrowhead (K. F. Robinson) 1, 1 Balloon (Stratton) 2, 4 Henry Navarro (Jenkinson) 3. Also ran: 3 Just an Idea, 5 Callapat, 6 Banbridge. Won by two lengths, third back five lengths. Timo 2.56 1-5. Navarro led into the straight from Callapat, Arrowhead nnd Just an Idea. Arrowhead took tho lead and won easily. Rewa Hack. —1 Tai Ao (Miles) 1, 4 Lady Court (J. M. Pine) 2, 6 Fairy Girl (Grylls) 3. Also ran: 5 Haulbowlino, 2 Chief Savage, 3 Gran Chaco, 7 Goy. Won by a bare length, third two lengths back. Time, 1.14 4-5. Lady Court was best out from the barrier, Chief Savage and Haulbowline following. Tho latter took the lead from Lady Savage and Tai Ao into the straight. In the run to the post Lady Court was in front, but Tai Ao gathered speed and won nicely. EASTER HANDICAP 4 High Falutin (Barry) .. ... 1 3 Grand Jury (Ridgeway) .. .. 2 7 Shrewd (J. M. Pine) 3 Also ran: 5 Arrow Lad, 1 King Collossus, 6 Gold Dawn, 2 Korokio, 8 Briar Root. Won by a length, third back a head. Time, 1J53 4-5. Awahuri Hack. —1 Davistoek (Anderson) 1, 3 Baskier (Robinson) 2, 6 Captain Dan (Weston) 3. Also ran: 1 Seneschal, 5 lago, 4 Midnight Echo. Won by a good length, third back a head. Time, 1.27 4-5. Crossing the top Captain Dan and Davistoek joined Seneschal, with Baskier next. la a good finish Davistoek was too good for Seneschal. Baskier came up just soon enough for a second. Waiata Stakes.—l Farmer (Barry) 1,2 Riotous (Ridgway) 2, 9 Park Acre 3. Also ran: 8 Lucky Maw, 3 Beasonsfield, 4 Headland, 5 Thomist, 7 Pukepapa, 6 Cotsfield. Won by a length and a half, third back 2} lengths. Time, 1.14 4-5. Pnkcpapa, Riotous ami Farmer led into the straight. Riotous headed Pukepapa, but Farmer drew ahead and won easily. Denbigh Handicap. —2 Souchong (Weston) 1, 3 Hampden (Grylls) 2, 1 Av#i (Anderson) 3. Also ran: 4 Consent. From a good start Soacbong gradually took the lead and kept it to

the straight from Aston and Hamden. The result was never in doubt. Won by three lengths, third back four lengths. Time, 1.12 4-5. Orona Hack.—l Constant Sun (Grylls) 1, 8 Decree Nisi (Duncan) 2, 3 Tigerism (Barry) 3. Also ran: 5 Auctioneer, 2 Manawatu, 7 Saltpot, 4 Air Laddie, 6 Tentcall. Won by two lengths, third back a head. Time, 2.7 4-5. Entering the straight Constant Sun led from Saltpot, Tigerism and Decree Nisi. Constant Sun won easily, but only heads separated the next three. Makino Handicap.—4 Green Linnet (Weston) 1, 5 Juggle (Barry) 2,2 Habit( Miles) 3. Also ran: 3 Acora, 1 Chief Cook, 7 Calamine, 6 Patearoa. Won by a length and a half, third back half a length. Time 1.27 2-5. Acora led from the barrier, followed by Habit to the entrance to the straight. At the distance Green Linnet and Juggle came up, Green Linnet finishing fast in a good race.
