WEDDING

SPOONER—MAY. At St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, on the evening of November 25th. the wedding was solemnised of Victoria Dorothy May, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. May, Rivcrslea road, to Howard Victor Spooner, son of the late Mr and Mrs Edward Spooner, Seddou street. Hastings. The Rev. H. Speight officiated. The church had been decorated by friends of the bride with Christmas lilies, and white bows on the seats. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful frock of dawn pink satin, with a closely-fitting bodice, long sleeves, and a long flared skirt. The veil of pink tulle was scalloped and embroidered with ivy leaves, and was caught round with orange buds and blossoms. Pink satin shoes were worn. The beautiful bridal bouquet (the gift of Mrs E. Appleby) was composed of Christmas lilies, pale pink and white rosebuds, and trails of maidenhair fern with streamers of pink ribbons. Miss Joyce May, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, her pretty frock of lemon floral satin having a long flared skirt, and a tight-fitting bodice finished with a belt and diamante buckle. Pink crepc-de-chiuc shoes, with stock, ings to match, were worn, and n lovely bouquet carried of lemon i >s, Australian creeper and maidenhair fern, tied with lemon satin ribbons. Mr Hugh McKay was best man. As the bride left the chureh she was given a silver horseshoe by Miss Mona Drummond. After the ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s parents’ home, where the verandah was gaily decorated for the wedding supper. The bride cut the cake, which was two-tiered and iced in pink and white with many favours on it, and the bride and bridegroom received many congratulations. Mrs May received her guests wearing a blue flecked frock relieved with beige, and a flared skirt, with a hat of brown Bangkok straw, with shoes to tone. Later Mr and Mrs Spooner left for the North, the bride wearing a nigger brown ensemble, the coat trimmed smartly with musquash fur and a hat to tone. Guests present included:—Mr and Mrs R.
