“HUNGER MARCHERS”
DEMONSTRATION IN WASHINGTON. Washington, Dec. 8. Demonstrations by a group of 2000 “hunger marchers” recruited throughout tho United States to demand Government employment guarantees resulted in little excitement, due to a cordial reception by tho metropolitan police, who permitted tho marchers to say what they wished and carry what banners they desired, and offered food, coffee, and other comforts. The police aided tho parade and removed all irterest in agitation, only refusing entrance to White House and the Capitol, about which the group paused for some time, arguing and shouting threats at tho “capitalistic” Government. Tho demonstrators then moved to the offices of the American Federation of Labour, where they gained an entrance, only to receive a scathing rebuke from Mr Green, who asserted that th< j were the dupes of Communist leaders.
