VALEDICTORY
FUNCTION AT PARKVALE. FOUR TEACHERS FAREWELLED There was an attendance of about 150 people at the Parkvale school last evening, when members of the teaching staff, school and committee and others gathered formally to farewell Mr K. Dawkins, who has been transferred to the Otane district. Occasion was also taken to farewell! Misses Rigg and Hickling who are to further their studies at the training college, and also Miss Lovell-Smith, whose future appointment is not yet definite. An enjoyable social evening was spent, musical and vocal items adding much to the entertainment. During the evening, the chairman of the school committee, Mr A. V. Stamp, ou behalf of the teaching staff and the committee, .presented Mr Dawkins, and the other departing teachers with a small token, as a mark of the esteem in which they were held by the committee and staff, and also as a recognition of their services. Mr Dawkins in responding, thanked the chairman and the committee and staff, for their eulogistic references and expressed his regret at his pending departure. Miss Lovell-Smith, Hickling and Rigg made suitable responses. Recitations were contributed during the evening by Miss Monica Cassin and Mr Ron. Giorgi, whilst songs were rendered by Mr J. Stickland.
