The question of membership was discussed at length, and it was generally agreed that, in view of forthcoming developments in connection with radio, there would be a greater need for the society than ever before. It was decided to make a big appeal for new members. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs Rees. Lynn, Maultsaid, Keith and Culver was set up to draw up the plans of this membership drive, and it is hoped that the greatest success will be attained. The question of the extension of the radio equipment at the Memorial Hospital was also discussed .and it was decided to ask the Mayor, Mr G. F. Roach ,to call a public meeting to further consider this matter. Messrs Young, Lynn, Maultsaid and Longley were appointed a sub-committee to secure full information to present to the meeting. Another matter discussed was that of interference, and a sub-committee composed of Messrs Scott and Weaver was set up to locate interference sources and report same to the radio inspector. A letter from the secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department was received, asking tho society to nominate a representative for the Advisory Council under the Broadcasting Act, and it was unanimously decided to nominate Mr D. Rees. This council is to consist of eight members, five of which must reside in the North Island, and they will act in conjunction with the Broadcasting Board of Control which is to be set up.
