RAINBOW SHIELD CARNIVAL.
To-morrow night at tbc Maddison Oaths the final and deciding contest for the Rainbow Shield will be held. Tide contest has aroused the keenest rivalry amongst the competing clubs —Mahora, Heretaunga and Havelock —the latter of which has a slight lead of points. Both the other two are determined to make up the leeway to-morrow and a dour struggle for supremacy is expected. A full programme of all classes of swimming and diving make up what will be a splendid night of sport in which the best talent locally will be seen in action. The season is drawing to a close and this carnival will be the last opportunity of seeing the various clubs competing against one another. The cause also is a good one, the proceeds going to the H.B. Centre fund for the sending of teams each year to the national championships.
