TEA v. BEER
INTERESTING BRITISH FIGURES. (United Pre** Association—By Cable— Copyright.) (Received 4, 12.5 p.m.) London, December 3. Britain’s thirst is being increasingly quenched by tea and less by bee:. The latter, for the year ended March 31, amounted to 20,000.000 standard barrels, which is the lowest since the duty was raised in 1920-21, whereas the consumption of tea has increased two per cent., to a total of 412,000.000 pounds. The severity of the winter accounted for the sudden use of whisky to a total of 13.000,000 proof gallons, but wine declined.
