“NIGHT OF SURPRISES”

FRIDAY NIGHT’S ENTERTAINMENT. It will be seen from the announcement appearing in the advertising columns of this issue that two other short sketches are to bo included in Friday night’s much discussed programme in the Hastings Municipal Theatre in addition to that already disclosed. The first is a comedy in one act, entitled “The Old Lady Shows Her Medals.” In this piece Mrs F. S Budd finds splendid scope for her undoubted ability as a comedienne in the character of “Mrs Parish,” whilst Miss Marshall portrays the part of “Joyce” with characteristic grace. The male parts of “Freddie” and “The Rev. Parish” are in the capable hands of Messrs H. Poppelwell and J. J. Millar, who require no introduction to the Hawke’s Bay public. The other sketch to be included is “Stand and Deliver,” an original crook drama in two acts, by Miss Kiore King, who is also producing both pieces. The parts in this are “Edith Heywood’" and “Estelle Baxter,’’ taken by Miss Bonnie Simson and Miss Gretchen von Dadelszen, both of whom are new in this respect to theatre-goers, but of whose ability Miss King speaks highly The sole male part, that of ‘lGeorge Baxter,” is pleasingly interpreted by Mr V. Thomson. A large number of tickets for this entertainment have already been sold, and intending patrons are warned to book their seats at Fail’s immediately in order to avoid possible disappointment.
