Nottingham won the county cricket championship for the-first time splice 1907,'with Lancashire runner-up and Yorkshire third. Last round results are as follow :— Surrey in the first innings made 294—Wilson not out 69—and in the second 299 for five and declared— Gregory not out 44, Hobbs 111. Middlesex in the first innings made 310 —Hendren 100—and in the second 125 for four—Glover took four for 5. Middlesex won on the first innings. Essex in the first innings made 395 —Cutmore 72, O'Connor 102; Besleo took four tor 40—and in the second 142 for 6. Kent in the first innings made 454—Hardinge 98, Woolley 118. Kent won on the first innings. Sussex in the first innings made 169—Bowley 74—and in the second 265. Yorkshire in the first innings made 152—Tate took four for 52— and in the second 204—Holmes 61, Parks took three for 7. Sussex won by 78 runs. Nottingham in the first innings made 175 Derby in the first innings made 221 for three—Jackson not out 54. Derby won on the first innings. Worcester in the first innings made 93—Welland took four for 4—and in the second 96 for 1. Somerset in the first innings made 272—-White 73; Gilbert took four for 53. Somerset won on the first innings. Glamorgan in the first innings made 234, and in the second 130 for five. Northants in the first innings made 197. Glamorgan won on the first innings.

The rain which on Saturday looked like endangering Nottingham’s grip on the championship final game served them the other way to-day, preventing a finish. With the exception of Duleepsinhji, the season produced no new batsmen, but there are better prospects for bowling, notably for the googly bowlers, Robins, Spinner, Goddard, and for the lefthand express bowler Voce, all of whom are regarded as certain to confront the Australians in the 1930 tests.
