The speakers discussed inter-imperial trade relations. They are the first two Ministers of the Crown who have communicated directly from the Commonwealth to Britain. Terrible suffering was endured by John Robertson, a timber-getter, who died in the Rockhampton hospital He was walking behind a team when he was knocked unconscious by the dead limb of a tree and fell under the waggon, the horses apparently stopping immediately. Upon regaining consciousness he found himself pinned by an arm and unable to get free. Robertson was not found until the following day. Meantime the wound in his arfn became fly-blown and ants attacked a wound in his head. The arm was amputated, but the effects of the ordeal were too much and he died.
