IN BANKRUPTCY
A DAIRYMAN’S FAILURE. The bankrupt estate of Arthur James Marters, dairyman, of Napier, shows assets totalling £97 12/2 and debts amounting to £249 1/1, leaving an estimated deficiency of £l5l 8/11. Bankrupt, who is a married man with three children, in his personal statement, says that up till 1925 his position was secure, He was in constant employment, and having having some cash, commenced dealing in stock. This proved all right for some time, but through a drop in the market he found himself in trouble. He hung on, however, hoping to get on the right side of things, but his position did not improve. Finally, he was offers! work and came to Napier. After working for sij months, he lost his position on account of difficulties on the part of his employers. He was out of work again liter for three months, and then became ill, being laid up for some time. When he had practically recovered hia wife was ordered to the hospital. At this time he decide! to canvass for a milk ran, being offered assistance to take over a shop in Russell street. After taking over business did not come up to expectations, which was a serious handicap, eventually forcing him to give up.
