HASTINGS ORPHANS’ CLUB

VISIT TO NAPIER SAVAGES. WARM WELCOME EXTENDED. ( The Hastings Orphans paid a visit to the Napier Savage Club last evening, when they received a warm welcome from Chief Savage Mcllwraith and his brothei Savages, who entertained them with lavish hospitality. Chief Savage Mcllwraith who presided after extending greetings to the guests, asked Chief Orphan G. A. Maddisou to assume control of the evening's entertainment, which was provided entirely by the visitors. The following programme was submitted :—Orphans’ Orchestra (under Orphan O. Bryant), several selections ; songs by Orphans J. Bewley, E. Rivers. F. Thomas, T. Williams and J. W. Berriuge; violin solo, Orphan Mummery; instrumental trio, Orphans Lord (piano), Maddock (’cello) and File (flute); recitation, Orphan Bayliss; and community singing led by Orphan Bewley and the Orphans' choir. At the conclusion of the reunion, Chief Sav Mcllwraith thanked the Orphans for the very pleasant evening that had been spent and he congratulated them on the excellence of their orchestra.
