OUTBREAK AT WHAKAPARA. MEMORIAL HALL DESTROYED. Whangar ei, Jan. 6. The War Memorial Hall at Whakapara has been destroyed by tire. The building was opened in 1922- It was erected by means of subscriptions and the tree gift of timbers, and valued at £l5OO. It had not been used for a week, and the origin of the fire is a mystery. Insurances: On the building £6OO, and on the piano and fittings £6O.
