TAKAPAU.
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The annual congregational meeting oi the Takapau Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday evening when a commission from the Hawke’s Buy Presbytery consisting of the Rev. Mr Robertson, Waipawa, Rev. A. McLean and Mr. Riddell, Waipukurau, visited the congregation. A very satisfactory balance-sheet for the year, showing a - small credit balance, was received. Reports on the various phases of church work were read and adopted. Short addresses were given by the Rev. A. E. Hunt, who presided, and by the Revs. Robertson and A. McLean. Opportunity was taken to make a small presentation to Mrs W. Jackson, late superintendent of the Takapau Sunday School, to mark the appreciation with which the congregation viewed her. services to the church. The presentation, which consisted of a silver mounted oak tray a silver teapot and sugar bowl, was made by Mr. J. Caughley, who paid a hearty tribute to Mrs Jackson for the wonderful work she had done in the Sunday School and for the splendid help she had rendered the church in manifold ways, and on behalf of the congregation he wished her and those near and dear to her all happiness and success in the future. The Rev. A. E. Hunt stressed the help he had received from Mrs Jackson and thanked the members of her family for what they had done in the interest of the Church and Sunday School. Mrs Jackson in feelingly acknowledging the presentation said she was sorry she had to officially sever her connection with the Sunday Schoo! but she would still continue to take an interest in it as before. The management committee were re-elected. A successful church evening, after supper, was closed with the Benediction.
