PORANGAHAU

TENNIS CLUB. The annual meeting of the Porangahau Tennis Club was held on Tues, day evening and there was a large attendance. A financial statement of last season’s working was submitted showing a good credit balance. The report of the committee was as follows :— ■'We have, to report that since taking oKce last year the old aspliaS court has been top-dressed with coldphalt which greatly improved its surface, but not, to the extent that is desired for a first-class court. Two grass courts have been put down and thoroughly drained bv tile drains. The courts should be ready for play this season. A new fence bas been erected on the correct northern boundary of the tennis grounds, thus giving roo mfor an additional court. The new iron fence authorised to be erected on the western and southern boundaries of the sections by the previous committee has been completed. and it proved a great benefit to players.’’ I he election of officers resulted as follows;—Patron. The official opening day was left in the hands of the committee to decide.
