STIPENDIARY STEWARDS' APPEAL DISMISSED
W. H. REID’S DISQUALIFICATION
Wellington, July 15. In the matter of an appeal to the Racing Conference by J. McMahon, chief stipendiary steward, against the decision of the Auckland District Committee in upholding the appeal lodged by Mr. Wells, owner of Memsahib, against the decision of the judicial committee of the Auckland Racing Club in disqualifying Wells for twelve months from June 4, 1927, under part 31 rule 1 of the Rules of Racing, the judicial committee being of opinion that the horse Memsahib was not run to win the Hunt Club Cup. judgment is ag follows:— After having carefully read the evidence, and having heard the parties concerned in the case, in the entire absence of any definite evidence of fraudulent intent on the part of Mr. Wells in connection with the running of his horse Memsahib in the Hunt Club Cup on June 4, 1927, we decide that the appeal be dismissed, and the decision of the Auckland District Committee be confirmed. Messrs Harold A. Russell, 0. S. Watkins, and J. R. L. Stanford were the judges. In the appeal of W. H. Reid, the rider of Memsahib in the Hunt Club Cup, the judgment is; We have considered Reid’s appeal, but no evidence having been tendered to us to disturb the findings of the judicial committee of the Auckland Racing Club and the Auckland District Committee. we therefore dismiss the appeal
Reid was disqualified for twelve months.
