The Hastings Works Committee recommended to last night’s meeting of the Council that the first list 01 works to be carried out under the unemployment scheme be as follows: “A” SCHEDULE. Rate of Pay: It is recommended that the men employed on the work provided under the unemployment scheme be paid on the hour basisi at the rate of l/7f per hour. The'Mayor said that if the schedules were adopted it would serve a length of 45 miles of footpaths and no further expenditure would be required for a considerable time. The recommendations were adopted.
