CHEERING THEM UP.
OLD PEOPLE AT PARKE ISLAND. CONCERT ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON. After a break of three months, on account of the renovating operations, the members of the entertainment committee, accompanied by the Rev. Hyde and pupils of the Napier St. Luke’s Sunday School, paid a visit to the Parke Island Home on Saturday afternoon. Mr R. Hay-Chapman and Miss Anderson, matron, met the visitors at the conveyance and accorded them a hearty welcome. Mrs L. T. Bisson took the chair and introduced the company. The programme .contained many pleasing items in character and costume, and although a lengthy one proved all too short. Mrs T. Smith rendered the accompaniments in a very pleasing manner. Mr and Mrs Bisson arranged to have the radio reports of the Shield match forwarded to the Home from their residence in Lighthouse rqpd. Mesdames Langley, Thayer, McNeil and the matron attended to the afternoon tea arrangements-
Mr Hay-Chapman tendered to the visitors very hearty thanks on behalf of his charges for their clever and pleasing contributions, and Mr John Harris called for three cheers, which were heartily given.
