PERJURY CHARGE.

AGAINST SENIOR POLICE SERGEANT.

(Per Press Association.) Invercargill, July 9. At k he Police Court. George Scandretc. senior-sergeant of polices was charged on private information with committing perjury during the hearing of cases in the Magistrate’s Court regarding mining options near Timaru by swearing that ho hau no interest, direct or indirect, in any claim held by Patrick Cairns, and had never purchased from him any interest in options. Mi. Hanlon, for tliA defence, said it was his wife, not the accused, who was interested in the options. Accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial.
