HAAVKE’S BAY’S DELLGATE. Air A. A. Gporge leaves by the mail train on Saturday morning for Dune din, where, he will represent Hawke’s Bay at the annual Conference of the X.Z. Cycling and Atholtic Union, of which he is vice-president. With the oilier delegates fiom all parts of the Dominion lie has invitations io the Exhibition, the champion athletic sport--inccting m Dunedin, and the annual gathering of the South Canterbury Caledonian Society, besides a host of othei functions in Dunedin and elsewhere. His Worship the Afayor of Hastings, who is president of the Hastings Athletic and Cycling Club, sends his best wishes and the season’s greetings to the conference, and adds in his message; “I am certain that I lie delibera iious of this assemblage will be for the welfare of spoil. There is nothing so valuable to the individual as clean, healthy recreation. We owe. much to those men who give their time amt ability for the purpose of fostering sport in all its branches. Kindly convey to members of the conference mv warmest regards and best wishes for a most prosperous 1926. I should have liked to oe present myself. The finances of the N.Z.A. and C. Union am pc:lr to be in a healthy condition.” SWIMMING. INVITATION TO LADIES. Auckland, Dec. 21. The New South AVales Swimming Association has invited Ena Stocklev to compete in the Austra’ian championships at Sydney on February 13. 17 and 20. An invitation lias also been extended to the best distance swimmer and a manageress, both to be selected by the New Zealand Council. ’! hough no distance swimmer is named, the choice is practically confined to Aiisses Pirie and Jean Bell, of Auckland.
