BOXING.
VARIOUS BOUTS. Melbourne, Dec. 20. At the Stadium. Allen, of South Africa, knocked out Congress in the twelfth round. The worst exhibition of boxing in the Sydney arena for many years was provided at the Stadium, when Butchet retained the welter championship, beating Havilah Uren on points in twenty rounds. Gisborne, Dee. 20. A ten-round contest last night between Clarric Blackburn (10.6) and Larrie Lasher (10.13) terminated in the fifth round, when after being down three times, Lasher’s seconds threw the towel in RIFLE SHOOTING. OKAWA CLUB. A teams’ shoot of ten shots over ranges of 300, 500 and 600 yards was hold during the week-end*. Teams wore picked on the range, the competition being for a Christmas Jamb, The results were as follow:— First Team.
WAIPUKURAU CLUB. The above club shot off the second round of the Hindman trophy at the week-end, also tho second round of the Hunter Shield and Hodge Cup,-Rifleman S. Annand headed tho list for tho Hindman trophy with the splendid score of 94 off tho rifle. In the same match Rifleman Me Vicar scored a possible at 200 yards. In the Hunter Shield and Hodge Cup shoot Rifleman J. R. Atkins. T. Sullivan and F. Fryer tied for first place with a total of 92. Rifleman Atkins winning in the count back. Scores: The Hindman Trophy.
