WAIPUKURAU.

(Own Correspondent.} A very successful concert arranged by the Waipukurau Orphans’ Club in aid of the new Hatuma Presbyterian Church building fund was held in the schoolroom of the Settlement on Wednesday evening to a packed audience. A first-class programme was arranged, and the various items by the visitors were splendidly ’received. Vocal items by Orphans Fox and Davey and humorous sketches’ were gems of the evening, and Orphans Maloney and Mann also provided further pleasure in their instrumental items. Oruhans Reckm. Haycock and Bryce also rendered good service accompanists. Tho Bov. Fergusnn Fish, ini returning thanks to the visitors for their assistance, said that the funds would materially benefit through their efforts. Mr Trevor Wallace, of Waipukurau, met with a painful accident while out mustering at tho back of the Sanatorium on Thursday, which resulted in n broken- collarbone and severe shock. Tt appears that Mr Wallace put his horse at a wire fence, which the animal failed to negotiate, coming down heavily on the rider. Mr Wallace was removed to the hospital for treatment, and is progressing favourably. The Bishop of Waiapu will conduct thp, services in St. Mary’s, Waipukurau, and at Hatuma on Sunday. On Monday the Bishop will perform the induction of Canon Rice as vicar of the parish.
