Speech by Prince of Wales PLACE IN EMPIRE DEVELOPMENT “TRADE FOLLOWS THE FILM.” [By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 16, 9.25 a.m.) London, Nov. 15. The Pnnco of Wales, presiding at a luncheon at the British National Film League, said: “It is well worth Britain’s while to take the film industry seriously and develop it to the utmost. ’ ’ He emphasized the importance of the cinema advancing Imperial interests and promoting Imperial trade, adding that trade followed the film. The chairman, Colonel Bromhead, pointed out that the proportion of British films shown in the Dominions was only two per cent compared with 15 per cent, in tho United Kingdom. The Empire could not afford to be absent from the world’s screens. Mr Massey,' in a letter of apology, urged that the film could be employed to a greater degree in placing before the world the enormous resources of the Empire. In New Zealand there was a continually expressed desire for British films. —(A. and N.Z.)
