EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

ACCOMMODATION FOR VISITORS.

London, Nov. 14. The “Daily Express” has estimated that 25,000,000 people will visit the Empire Exhibition. London is making nj adequate arrangements to house visitors from overseas. Careful calculations of probable visitors from the dominions are: Canada 200,000. Australia 60,000, South Africa 40,000, New Zealand 20,000. There will also be 300,000 from the United States, a heavy invasion from the Continent and the provinces. The accommodation in London’s 4000 hotels, private hotels and boardinghouses, excluding the suburban areas is only 100,000 beds, most of which are occupied at ordinary times in the summer. A joint committee representing the hotel industry considered th© problem and recommended the establishment of a central accommodation office. The authorities of the exhibition later rejected it. —(A. and N.Z)
