Probably no other similar socity in th'o North Island has made such rapid in the last few years as ihc Dannevirkc and District A. and P. Association, and the reason is not hard to find. It is infected with the germ of progress, accompanied by enthusiasm, both of which, arc reflected in the schedule for the annual show to be held on February 14 and 15 next. Many new classes have peen added to the various sections this year. Every section this year has its challenge and special prizes, apart from the ordinary awards. For horses, in th'c jumping events there are two valuable ■challenge cups and two five guinea trophies; in cattle there is a points prize for purebred beef cattlo ,a special challenge cup* or trophy for each of the purebred sections, and one of .15 guineas each for dairy cattle amt fat cattle. Sheep arc also liberally catered for, and in addition to special trophies for each breed there is a challenge cup for most points in fact sheep and lambs and another for most points in purbred sheep. Pig breeders can compete for a 10 guinea challenge cup, while three 10 guinea challenge cups and two gold medals are to be won in the dairy produce sections. There is a six guinea 'challenge troph for the most points in fiome industries for cooking and preserves, and a challenge cup for most points yi needlework.
