HASTINGS AND HAVELOCK NORTH.

A letter was received by the Hastings Borough Council last night, stating that the bqrough had permission to traverse county roads u ith the borough electric reticulation, provided the borough accepted all liability for accidents. The county also asked if the borough would sell its electric lines in the county to them, and at wliat puce. —The Mayor said that when he was in Wellington in connection with the Waikaremoana hydro-electric scheme deputation, the chairman of the H.B. County Council (Mr. T. Mason Chambers) applied for the county control of all the electric lines in their boundaries. but he (Mr. Hart) informed him that the Hastings council had a 34 years’ license and Mr. Chambers was surprised to hear it.—TW letters were referred to the Electrical Committee.
