HASTINGS CARNIVAL WEEK.
Meetings of the publicity, competitions and car parade committees were held yesterday. Representatives of the taxi proprietors also discussed matters and decided to enter into the scheme wholeheartedly. The committee decided to hold a general parade of illuminated and decorated motor cars, tradesmen’s turnouts, lorries. motor and push cycles, model cars novelties, etc. Prizes will be given in each class. The competitions committee decided upon a word building competition. A sports programme to take place one evening in Nelson Park will be a feature. Subscribers to the fund can be supplied with slogan stickers free of cost for use upon stationery and parcels. Each subscriber will lie supplied with an official slogan which will be affixed to the shop window. Subscribers are also requested to mention the carnival date and particulars in the corner of their advertisement when changing. Volunteers for assistance are being added to every committee and a fine spirit of service is being manifested. Hastings is sure to redeem its promise during carnival week of progress and insure.
