NELSON PARK SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Nelson Park School Committee was held kast night. Present: Mr. G. W. Venables (chairman), Mrs Venables, Messrs S. R. Stedman. T. Rouse, W. Rose, J. Kendall, P. N. Bartlett, T. Southgate, R. McNiven, R. Thomas, and the headmaster, Mr. E. V. Hudson. The headmaster reported that the present roll number was 765 and the average attendance 656. The figures constituted a record for the school. The decision of the Borough Council to erect danger signals near the school was favourably commented upon by members. During the month the school was visited by Mr. H. E. Longworth, chief physical expert, and Miss Gore-Mar-tin, physical instructress. both of whom inspected the physical drill squads. The school at the present time is very congested, and it has been decided to approach the Government and urge the necessity of providing a new school immediately. The committee decided to hold a parents’ day on Thursday, October •sth, when an opportunity will be af-[ forded parents of witnessing the scholars at work. The thanks of the committee are due to Mr. Crabb for pictures presented to the school. Messrs T. Rouse and R. Thomas were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
