Andrew), Mr. E. A. Goodger (Mayor of Waipukurau), and Mr. T. M. Chambers (chairman Hawke’s Bay County Council), he interviewed Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Public Works) regarding the Waikaremoana hydro-elec-tric scheme, as to when the current would be available. The deputation, in conformity with a request made by him during a recent visit to Napier, informed him as to how much power the various districts would take. Messrs. Hart and Andrew saw the Minister later and they were told that he could not give a definite reply immediately, hut that he would lie able to do so in a day or two. Mr. Hart says that the Minister was favourably disposed and they would know in a few days as to when the putting in hand of the big scheme might he expected.
