TARANAKI NEEDS ROADS.

HEAVY EXPENDITURE PROMISED. MINISTER LENDS A FRIENDLY EAR. Wellington, Sept. 28. The Minister of Public Works, replying to a deputation from Taranaki, said the Awakino road construction would certainly be pushed on. There would be no vote for the Mokau bridge, which would cost £40,0000. The halting of the railway works would not delay completion. Taranaki’s turn would soon come under the policy of concentration. and lines would be completed expeditiously. Heavy expenditure was proposed on two roads in the Ohura and Whangamomona districts. The Tangarakau Gorge road would lie improved to some extent.
