SOLDIER SETTLEMENT LAND.

FORECLOSURE DEFICANCIES. (Special to “Tribune.”) Wellington, Sept. 20. The Minister of Lands stated to-day that when the Government exercises its power of sale and there is a deficiency on such sale, it it not the practice or intention of the Government to hold such deficiency against returned soldiers, but to write it off. Exception, however, is made in the case where it is fairly evident fraud has been committed ,and the Government reserves to itsself the right to follow up the matter with, a view to ascertaining whether •listraint can be made on any other property belonging to soldiers, the same to be applied towards the deficiency in question.
