MISCELLANEOUS CABLES.
An aeroplane crashed near Pretoria (South Africa), and Lieutenant Vanderbylof, of the Air Force, and Lieutenant Stewart, of the Mounted Rifles, who were aboard, were killed.
A slight fall in values was recorded yesterday on the Sydney Stock Exchange. ' There was a tendency on the part of a small section to realise on their holdings. The market on the whole has maintained a solid front, indicating a healthy current of confidence.
Various eclipse parties have completed all preparations. The rehearsals of the programme have proved satisfactory. Tne weather in the observation sone has improved and is promising. The New South IV ales . schools will be closed to give the children a chance of observing the eclipse under parental control.
After three weeks of frenzied drilling thrugh hundreds of feet of solid rock at Jackson, California, in the hope of releasing the 45 miners entombed. the rescuers to-day came upon the bodies of all the dead.
