HAWKE’S BAY SHOW.

Breeders of stock and intending exhibitors should obtain a schedule of the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society’s Spring Show without delay, as the entries will be closing in two weeks’ time, namely 4th October, and the society is anxious that all entries should be received in good time to be included in the catalogue. Valuable prizes are awarded to exhibitors gaining the judge’s verdict, including the W. T. Williams Challenge Cup, value forty guineas, for best group of two Shorthorn hulls (one yearling and one two-year-old bull) and the Douglas McLean Challenge Cup, value £l5 15s for best group of two, comprising Shorthorn bull and female, two years or upwards. In the Hereford section the New Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders’ Association offers a trophy, value £10! 10s, for best Hereford bull under 18 months and a trophy, value £5 ss, for best Hereford heifer under 18 months, and the Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa Breeders’ Hereford Qiaollenge Chip, value £l5 15s, will lie awarded for group of two, comprising Hereford bull and female, two years and upwards. The Hawke’s Bay Aberdeen Angus Breeders’ Challenge Cup is offered in the Aberdeen Angus section for best group of two, comprising bull and female two years and upwards. A new section has been included for Red Polls. A number of Red Polls are now in Hawke’s Bay and other parts of New Zealand and breeders have expressed great satisfaction with this breed. Valuable prizes are offered and it is expected there will be keen competition in this section. The New Zealand Friesian Association’s gold medal will be awarded in the Friesian section, and in the milking Shorthorn section a special prize of £3 3s is offered for hest yearling heifer. Mr. A. M. Williams’ special prize of £5 5s will be awarded in the Jersey section and a challenge cup presented by the Napier Dairy Co. will he awarded the winner •of the open butter-fat competition Intending exhibitors who have not received a schedule should, apply to the secretary, box 145, Napier, to the societv’s office, Tennyson street.
