FORD WORKS CLOSED. New’ York. September 16. Some 18,000 men in one Ford plant at Detroit have been paid off. and nearly 100,000 instructed to turn in their tools to-night for an indefinite suspension. RAILWAYMEN RESUME WORK. It is announced at Chicago that 16 Western railways signed the agreement for a settlement, and the men are returning immediately.
