HASTINGS HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

SPRING FLOWERS. The attendance at the Horticultural Society’s spring show of bulbs and flowers at the Municipal Assembly Hall last night was very good, and a constant stream of people flocked into the building to see the array of blooms. The display was much admired, and the general expression was one of intense pleasure. The decorative department was critically examined and the opinion was expressed that the judge must have had some trouble in arriving at a decision with such keen competition. Mr G. D. Wilson, nurseryman of Queen street, had a fine display of bedding plants, cyclomen, flowering in pots, Pa rani a Lutca (a slightly scented Australian shrub) palms and other pot plants, in which ho did satisfactory business. The exhibits were admirably staged, and the business of the show generally was carried out in a capable manner by the secretary, Mr P. F. Hunter, and the ladies and gentlemen who assisted him.
