DAIRY FARMERS AND N.Z.F.U. Palmerston N., Sept. 14. A conference of secretaries of the Wellington provincial district and branches of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was held to-day. An announcement was made that as a result of the recent conference in Wellington between representatives of the Dairy Farmers’ Union and the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, a basis of federation was tentatively, agreed upon. The terms of the agreement have yet to be returned to the respective executives. The agreement provides that the N.Z. Farmers’ Union and the Dairy Farmers’ Union each continue to do their own organisation, manage their own branches and provincial organisation; that each member of both organisations contribute 5/ to a donation fund; that the Dominion conference consist of provincial presidents and one delegate to each 500 financial members of each province; that the Dominion executive be elected by joint members of the conference; that the conference and executive be called the N.Z. Farmers’ Union and Conference Executive respectively; that the provincial president of each province of the Dairy Farmers’ Union take a seat as a member of the Dominion executive forthwith, on ratifying the agreement, and that payment be made of 2/6 to discharge the liability of the Dominion levy to May 31, 1923.
