NATIVE APPELATE COURT.

CHATHAM SUCCESSION CASE. Wellington, September 13. The Native Appellate Court has been having a succession case connected with the interests of one Ngarewhiti, deceased, in 1500 acres of land in the Chatham Islands. In 1919 the Native Law Court found in favour of Mrs. Rena Dix as the nearest of kin, but some natives at Levin set up a claim that they were nearer still, and the last Native Land Court decided in their favour. Mrs. Dix appealed, and the Appellate Court found evidence conclusive in her favour, and gave her 1 judgment. There had been allegations of fraud by the other side, but the Court declared that there was no ground for such a contention.
