Numbers of motor cars and accessories are offered on the market for sale both by public auction and privately—some are “brummy,” some have been through all sorts of accidents and are sold with all sorts and no sort of guarantees, but after all its said and done they are all second-hand and someone else has had that “best of all” part of the life of the car—the first 8000 or 9000 miles. This is not so, however, as regards the cars taken over by the insurance underwriters from the recent fire at the Tourist Company. As the public will well remember three English Rovers of the latest model had just been landed and were slightly burned at the back. These with all the stock and accessories, will be sold—absolutely sold—to the highest bidder by Messrs. Gill Bros, on Wednesday, 13th inst. Mr. R. Atkins’ valuable herd of pedigree and high-grade Shorthorn cows is to be dispersed under the auctioneer’s hammer at Twyford on Thursday of this week. The sale will be the most important of its Jtind held in Hawke’s Bay for some years. Every beast is a good one. being the best butter-fat producing strain in the Dominion. Mr. Atkins’ draught mares are beauties, one being in foal to Silver Prince. All the pigs and other live stock are bred from the very best blood stock. Details are advertised on pags 8 of this issue.
