THE STRATFORD ELECTION.
INQUIRY OPENED. Stratford, March 15. The Election Court opened at Stratford to-day before Justices Stout and Chapman, to hear the petition of Mr. J. B. Hine and others against the return of Robert Masters as member for Stratford, and asking that Mr. Hine be declared elected on the grounds that Mr. Masters was guilty, by himself or agent, of corrupt practices by providing a moving picture show and music prior to an addruss delivered on December 16th, and also that a large number of persons voted for Mr. Masters who were not entitled to be registered as voters. Recriminations filed on behalf of Mr. Masters allege that a larger number of persons voted for Mr Hine who were not qualified to be on the roll. In the alternative tho petitioners pray that the election be declared null and void. Mr Myers, opening the case, said the chief reliance was placed on the alleged provision of pictures and music at a meeting addressed by Mr. Masters on the night before the election.
