HOSPITAL SATURDAY.
Hospital Saturday at Hastings and Napier was ushered in with favourable weathpr, and the collectors were able to make a very complete canvass of the whole district. At Napier, the hospital nurses, in their uniform, and the other collectors were to be seen plying the strets from an early hour this morning, and generally speaking their efforts met with a splendid response on all sides. The little red and white half-crown exemption badges were to be seen in the possession of a large percentage of the donors, and it is safely said that practically no refusals were met with. The public of Napier upheld their past reputation, proving themselves even more generous than in former years, fully realising that because of the magnificent work done for our soldiers at the hospital, this cause is now a more worthy one than ever.
