TO-NIGHT'S PICTURES.

MUNICIPAL THEATRE, HASTINGS. A particularly attractive matinee programme has been arranged for screening at this theatre on Saturday afternoon next. The feature production is a five-part Famous Players subject ! entitled “The Little Soldiet Girl,” featuring Ann Pennington as a little girl | sccut. “A Little Soldier Girl” is a story with an abundance of tense dramatic situations and thrilling incidents, and it would be difficult indeed to find a more suitable subject for children. It is a photoplay that will produce many laughs, yet may bring forth a :tear'or two. 'The management anjnounce that ihis picture will be shown sat the matinee only. Other items in ; support of this feature include the | latest instalment of the popular serial i “Liberty” and one or two splendid I comedies, in addition to a topical gaz- : etto and other interesting items. EVERYBODY’S, HASTINGS

Mabel Taliaffero, who has had many notable appearances under the Metro banner is again the star in another Metro wondj 7 play, “A Magdalene of the Hills.” Ihis film was shown for

the first time last night at this theatre, and met with the hearty approval of , the large crowd there to witness it. The story which is one of love, wealth and ; bravery very briefly told is as follows: ; “A flower of the mountains” makes a ' vow with her father to kill a wealthy New Yorker or any member of his family, because of the death of her brother, who was suspected of destroying the rich man’s property. A nephew of the New’ Yorker visits the mountain section. The girl tries to kill him. He repays her with kindness and her hatred is replaced by love. The nephew' returns to the East. The girl’s father tries to marry her to a young man of the mountains. She leaves kei’ home and in her wanderings kills a rough character who insults her. She is put on trial for murder. The nephew returns from the’ East, pleads her case and wins an acquittal. Then he tells her of his own great love for her. Another of those interesting Rex Beach travel films is on the programme, also the latest American Gazette and “Almost a Scandal (comedy).
