WAIPAWA MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

[OWN CORRESPONDENT. I (Before Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M.) A prohibition order was granted against a local resident on tne application of his wife. CIVIL CASES. Judgment by dafault was given for J. Green v. Retina Pene, claim £32 18 - with costs £3 14,--; Commissioner of Taxes v. Herbert F.etcher, claim £2 15'-. costs 15/-. DEFENDED CASE. W. I). Pattison v. Lydia Grant, claim £3 10’11 for stores supplied. The defence was that the wife was not liable for the husband’s debts. Plaintiff adduced that .the goods were supplied on the order of defendant and that the prices charged were fair and reasonable. He mad.her understand that thp husband would not lie recognised in the matter. Defendant stated that she had been sent by her husband but agreed personally to pay the costs of goods on a promise from her husband to refund her the amount. His Worship said that the agreement to pay would hold Tier liable. There was uo occasion to have made the promise. Judgment would therefor be for the plaintiff with costs £1 I? -. MAINTENANCE. Au order was made against defendant in the case Green v. Green, to pay £l week'v for the maintenance of a child and to pay the arrears amounting to £5O and costs £6 6- to complainant. The child was ordered to be placed in the care of defendant’s parent s.
