HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. NAVAL LOSS CONFIRMED. The High Commissioner reports: London. Sept. 22. 5.5 p.m. OFFICIAL. —The armoured cruisers Aboukir. Hogue, and Cressy were sunk by German submarines in the North Sea. The Aboukir was torpedoed, and while the Hogue and the Cressy cosed in ami were standing by to save the crew, they also were torpedoed. A considerable number of the crews have been saved by a division 1 of destroyers, trawlers, and boats. The lost cruisers were ships of the Seventh Cruiser Squadron, which is now reduced to two ships, the Bacchante (Commander G. Casey), and the Eurvalus (Commander P. TV. Hill). Tho Aboukir (12.0!<» tons, two 9-2 j inch and twelve 6-inch guns, sneed : 21 knots) was commanded by Com. [ H. C. Carr. The Hogue, of the; same tennaae and armament, was i commanded by Com. R.
