NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE FUNDS.

NAPIER. The Napier branche of the St. Vincent de Paul Society gave another euchre party and dance hist evening in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund. As there were a great many present a verv handsome sum will be available for the fund. Mrs. Cole and Mr. J. Doyle secured the hist prizes in the euchre tournament, and Mrs. Peters and Mr. J- Muilany the consolation prizes. Mesdames Swcetapple and Heath and Miss Pimlev supplied music for the dancing : Mr. J. AV. Coe supervised the euchre tournament; and Messrs. M . Moore and T. Murroti performed the duties of M’s.U. A gift auction salt, organised by the Natives of Eskdal'c. Tangoio and To Pohue, will be held in the Petane Hall to-morrow afternoon in aid of the war fund. Napier’s patriotic auctioneer (Mr. A. E. Rononf) has consented to weild the hammer.

The secretary of the Education Board (Major Crawshaw) has received the following additional contributions from pupils towards, the fund for equipping a field ambul- ■* ance : —Te Arai £~2 10 6, Ormond £2 2'-, Waerenga ahika £l 17 6.
